At the Roosevelt Football team banquet that happened on November 13th, Senior varsity lineman #75 Atticus Heath was one of 17 in the 4A football section that was nominated for the Minnesota High School Football Academic All-State Team. This huge accomplishment means that Atticus demonstrated both academic and athletic excellence. It recognizes that he not only performed at a high level on the field, but also maintained strong grades, showed leadership, and represented his school well. It’s one of the strongest indicators that a player is committed, disciplined, and successful in both school and sports.
When asking him what he did to be successful this season, he shared about his work ethic and, most importantly, his supporters. Atticus put in a lot of work throughout his years of football and strived to be the best player and leader and as well the best student. He told me that to be as successful as he is, you have to work hard, show up, and give 110% every single day. Atticus likes to go by the motto that his favorite coach swears by: “practice makes permanent”. With his resilience and determination for his football team and school, it’s no surprise he won this award. Atticus, most importantly, attributes his success to his Mom and his Dad. “They’ve been there for me through thick and thin, and I couldn’t do it without them.”
I brainstormed some questions for the guy so you readers can get to know him more, and here were his answers: What are fun facts about you? “I was born in San Francisco and moved to Minnesota when I was in second grade. I’m left-handed, I love to grill with my dad, and drive around Lake Street with my friends at night.”
What are your plans after high school?: I plan on going to the University of Minnesota Duluth and will play football there with Cullen. I am also going there for their business program as I want to be an entrepreneur.”
What is your favorite memory of Roosevelt and football?: ” My favorite football memory by far was beating Venture Academy my sophomore year, or freshman year, blowing out Columbia Heights on jv.” His favorite school memory was whenever he was in class with his friends laughing uncontrollably and making funny memories.
