Roosevelt poised for a strong win against North High.
Roosevelt High School’s Boys Basketball team strongly prepared for their match against North High School, and based on recent performances, Roosevelt appeared to have the advantage heading into the game. With solid teamwork and consistent scoring, the team was confident as they got ready to compete.
Roosevelt’s basketball team has shown steady improvement throughout the season, making their game against North one of the most anticipated matchups.
Roosevelt has been building momentum with strong defensive play and improved communication on the court, which could play a major role in the outcome of the game.
North basketball, however, should not be underestimated. The team has shown flashes of strong shooting and physical play inside the paint. If North is able to slow the game down and limit Roosevelt’s transition opportunities, the matchup could stay close.
North’s success will likely depend on limiting turnovers and matching Roosevelt’s energy.
According to one Roosevelts players, Calvin Peterson he says, “We’ve been focusing on defense and team chemistry going into this game.” That focus has been visible in recent performances, as Roosevelt has looked more connected on both ends of the court.
Overall, Roosevelt entered the matchup with high hope for the win. Thursday night January 15th, Roosevelt played against North and it came down to the wire, but luckily Roosevelt took over in the last seconds of the game. The game ended with the Roosevelt boys basketball team winning by three points.
Calvin Peterson got fouled before trying to make a three pointer, Peterson then made all three free throws to end the game with just 8 seconds left and had 25 points and Cam Drakes ended the game with 23 points. The team played hard and had a great game. All players contributed to Thursday nights game, whether it was defense, rebounding or scoring. The ending score was 81-78 W Roosevelt.
The Teddies and Polars will meet once more before the season ends. This game is the last in season game for the Teddies before heading into sections. The game will be hosted at THE VELT on February 26th at 7pm.
